Victor Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Nigeria international could ‘closely meet’ Erling Haaland next season.

Osimhen has made headlines in Italy after scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international has recently signed a contract extension at the Stadio Maradona but is still expected to leave the Partenopei at the end of the season. His new deal, expiring in 2026, includes a release clause in the region of €120-130m.

Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs linked with securing the striker’s services next summer and Friday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests the 25-year-old could be moving to the Premier League next summer.

‘Many consider him the best striker in the world after Haaland, who he could closely meet next season,’ wrote journalist Vincenzo D’Angelo in Friday’s printed edition of the pink paper on page 22.

Osimhen has recently returned from AFCON and has scored nine goals in 19 appearances across all competitions with Napoli this term.
