Gazzetta claims over 200 refereeing errors this season

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that there have already been over 200 refereeing errors in the opening 12 rounds of the Serie A season, with Torino worst hit, followed by Milan, Roma, Juventus and Inter.

The newspaper has drawn up a dossier of what it maintains to be ‘errors’ committed by referees, though that does not differentiate between the more serious issues such as disallowed goals or penalty incidents and throw-ins or corners that went to the wrong team.

In the current campaign, they calculate that Juventus had 15 errors go in their favour and 12 against.

Inter had 6 in favour and 9 against, Milan 14 to 19, Napoli totally even on 6 and 6, Roma 13 in favour and 10 against, Atalanta practically level on six to seven.

Lazio are considered to be the ‘luckiest’ side with 20 errors in favour and 10 against, whereas Torino had five in favour and 25 against.

Their analysis going back to the start of the 2020-21 season claims that Torino had 230 errors go against them, over 100 more than any other team.

It is also worth noting that the owner of La Gazzetta dello Sport is Torino President Urbano Cairo.

In these statistics, they claim Milan had 121 errors against them, Roma 114, Juventus 103, Inter 102, Lazio 80, Napoli 77 and Fiorentina 59.
