Today, Antonio Conte is on the front page of the main Italian sports papers, with La Gazzetta dello Sport challenging the ex Inter and Juventus tactician to leave Tottenham and return to Serie A.

Conte won the Panchina d’Oro for 2020-21 when he won Inter’s first Scudetto in 11 years. He was voted by his fellow coaches in Serie A, getting one more vote than Milan boss Stefano Pioli.

Conte wins Serie A Coach of the Year award for Inter triumph

Il Corriere dello Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport have put the 52-year-old on their front pages, with the pink paper asking ‘Would Conte return?’

The main article of today’s edition praises the ex-Juventus and Inter coach and challenges him to return to Serie A as Conte is seen as one of the men who can relaunch Italian football. “Without him, it’s not the same thing,” wrote Giovan Battista Olivero.

“He must contribute to the resurgence of Italian football, a more challenging feat than making Tottenham great again. Correct, Antonio?”

Il Corriere dello Sport also has an article by their editor Ivan Zazzaroni, highlighting how Conte received the Coach of the Year award days before the Serie A meeting between his former clubs Juventus and Inter.

Conte remained in charge of the Bianconeri for three years, winning as many Serie A titles and became Italian champions once during his two-year spell at Inter. In November, he signed an 18-month deal with Tottenham.

  1. And which club is going to be the one to afford him?

    Annual salary:
    Chelsea €13m
    Inter €13m
    Spurs €17m

His salary is only going in one direction and he follows the money. He won’t be returning soon unless some big money comes into a club.
