Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis said he ‘respects’ Gigio Donnarumma’s decision to leave the Rossoneri this summer and said they have ‘no problems with Mino Raiola’.

The goalkeeper’s time at San Siro has come to an end, as the Italy international never renewed with the club and Milan have already brought in Mike Maignan from LOSC Lille as his replacement.

Donnarumma helped Milan finish second in Serie A, as the Diavolo qualified for the Champions League and Gazidis said he ‘admires’ the 22-year-old and ‘respects’ his decision.

“I don’t want to reveal the details of the timing,” Gazidis told Il Corriere dello Sport. “In the end, the player always makes the decision.

“He was an absolute professional, I have admiration for him and respect his choices. He did what he thought was better for himself and there are some reasons on his side.”

Gazidis said the Rossoneri are not working to cut the ties with Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola.

“It’s not our target. We have no problems with Raiola,” he said. “We analyse individual cases without prejudice.”
