Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis returned to the fashion capital after a period in USA battling throat cancer. ‘I’m convinced that we will soon be able to meet again in person’.
The Rossoneri director was diagnosed with throat cancer and spent time to recover in the US, but has been in contact with the management, coaches and the team at Milanello, always staying close to the club during the difficult time.
The South African returned to Italy and wanted to thank and reassure everyone with a letter addressed to the Milan world.
“Dear colleagues,” he wrote, according to MilanNews. “As some of you may know, I have just returned to Milan to continue my journey towards healing.
“I want to tell you that it’s a real pleasure and relief to finally return to the city that is truly my home, although the incredible support and affection received in recent weeks has never made me feel far away.
“I’m also delighted to have managed to fulfil my professional duties during this period of very delicate and demanding treatments and cures, especially thanks to your commitment and contribution.
“It filled me with pride to see the continued progress made, on and off the pitch. Now, I will entrust my convalescence to the excellent IEO team here in Milan.
“Although there will still be a long way to go to fully recover, I remain absolutely confident, and I’m convinced that we will soon be able to meet again in person.
“In the meantime, we are identifying a date in the coming weeks to virtually meet again in the Town Hall, to be able to greet you and all, and talk to each other directly after this period of distance, even if only physical.
“Forza Milan, Ivan.”
