Gazidis begins Milan era

Ivan Gazidis begins his tenure as Milan CEO today and intends to close the negotiations for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cesc Fabregas.

The former Arsenal chief is reportedly being paid €4m per year net to lead the Serie A club back to its former glory.

Although his arrival will only be ratified during the shareholders’ meeting on December 5, he was already in the stands for Thursday’s 5-2 Europa League victory over Dudelange, seated next to President Paolo Scaroni, directors Leonardo and Paolo Maldini.

According to the Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport, Gazidis has several meetings already on the schedule, as negotiations to bring Chelsea midfielder Fabregas and LA Galaxy forward Ibrahimovic are at an advanced stage.

Gazidis was able to double Arsenal’s revenue during his time there and Milan owners Elliott Management hope he can do the same with the Rossoneri.

Among his first meetings will be sponsors Fly Emirates to renegotiate the contract, then present a new business plan to kit sponsors Puma.

The club is also seeking an automobile sponsorship, as their deal with Audi expired two years ago.
