Nations League Liveblog: Italy vs. Spain

There are some surprises in the starting XI for both sides, largely fuelled by injuries that reduced the squads to the bare minimum.

Luis Enrique has thrown Gavi straight into the line-up for his senior debut, becoming the youngest ever player to represent Spain at this level.

He was born in August 2004, which means the Barcelona midfielder was three months old when Italy defender Chiellini – who is on the bench today – made his senior Azzurri debut against Finland in November 2004.

Whereas Italy’s entire starting XI also picked up the winners’ medals at UEFA EURO 2004 just three months ago, the Spain line-up has seen other adjustments to bring in new faces.
