According to Mundo Deportivo, thieves tried to break into Gennaro Gattuso’s house during Valencia’s game against Cadiz, but the Italian coach was well-prepared.

It has become a rather ugly trend to see criminals check the fixture lists to see when players and now even coaches are involved in games, using that as an opportunity to rob their houses.

A gang attempted this technique during Valencia’s match against Cadiz at the Mestalla.

However, former Milan and Napoli coach Gattuso was ready for them, having installed an alarm system with video cameras and motion sensors.

He also brought in two guard dogs who were alert to the danger and chased the would-be thieves away.

Local police are now studying the video evidence to track down the robbers.

It is not just in Italy that there have been a spate of robberies, as in recent months Samu Castillejo, Dani Carvajal, Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata all had break-ins during matches.
