Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly hoping to convince Nikola Milenkovic and make sure the 23-year-old renews with Fiorentina.

The centre-back’s contract expires in June 2022 and the Viola might be forced to sell this summer, to avoid seeing the Serbian leave on a free transfer next year.

But Il Corriere dello Sport reports the club is ready to offer him a new deal at the Artemio Franchi.

The newspaper reveals Fiorentina are ready to speak with the player’s entourage, while the coach himself, who has always preferred to meet in person, will talk to the player.

Gattuso reportedly wants to keep the 23-year-old and is eager to plan ahead with the Viola defender.

Milenkovic could have several options should he decide to leave the club and a sale could bring in €10m, according to the report.

Milenkovic moved from FK Partizan to Fiorentina in July 2017 and has played 34 Serie A games in 2020-21 and has established himself as an important member of the squad in Florence.
