Tottenham have reportedly offered a two-year deal to Gennaro Gattuso and ended talks with Paulo Fonseca due to tax issues.
Fonseca was close to reaching an agreement with Spurs, but according to Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb, negotiations between the two parties collapsed when they came to discuss the so-called ‘growth decree’ a special tax regime for newly resident workers that move to Italy for at least two years.
Fonseca had joined Roma from Shakhtar in 2019 and could have not used the decree had he left the country before August.
However, Tottenham want to start the preseason at the beginning of July and it wouldn’t have been possible to do so with Fonseca.
Tuttomercatoweb reports Tottenham and the former Roma coach didn’t reach an agreement over the Portuguese’s staff in North London.
Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Gattuso is close to reaching an agreement with Tottenham who have offered the 2006 Italy World Cup winner a two-year deal.
Gattuso had been appointed Fiorentina coach just 23 days ago, but he parted ways with the Tuscans today after disagreements with the club over their transfer strategies.
