“Piatek comes across like Robocop,“ the Rossoneri boss said at a Press conference.
“He only says four words, he doesn’t get lost in chatter and he’s also showed it in training.
“He’s very physical and he likes to attack space. He arrived with enthusiasm and was surprised by how it was welcomed by everyone.
“When you don’t score regularly, there’s pressure. But it’s also normal that when you don’t score, the Press slaughter you and he suffered because of it.
“Perhaps he also suffered of the possibility that we wouldn’t buy him if we didn’t finish fourth. The red card against Juventus stuck with him.
“Carlo can’t be imitated for how he manages the dressing room and how he managed me.
“He has this gift inside of him. He makes players believe and enters their heads. Only a few have ever spoken ill of him.
“You can’t copy-paste him. At times we behaved like father and son. If I’ve achieved everything I have, it’s down to him. He’s a great person.
“You [journalists] invented the Calhanoglu rumour. It doesn’t exist. There’s always someone who likes to write about Calhanoglu.
“Leipzig wanted him, but I always told the club, like they did to me, that he was a crucial player, so he’s never been on the market.
“Zapata’s contract, on the other hand, is due to expire. The club offered him a renewal and now the player must make a decision.
“He’d been playing as a starter, but now he’s injured so we’ll see what happens. Certainly no-one else will be leaving. Both the club and I are doing everything to keep Zapata.
“Napoli lose a lot without Allan, but I think Carlo is spoiled for alternatives. Tomorrow we need a great performance to bring points home because we’re playing a scary team.
“They dribble with the ball like they did last season, but now they’re much more direct and get pass their man easily.”
Milan were linked with Aurelien Tchouameni and Gerard Deuloeu just a day before the showdown at Siro, so is there any truth to the speculation?
“We’re fine as we are,” concluded Gattuso.
