The Rossoneri have lost their last two Serie A games, but took an extra-time victory over their city rivals in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night.

“We know the problems we had and still have,” Gattuso said in his Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Fiorentina game.

“It was an important match which gives us a lot of strength. We’re playing a match against a Fiorentina team which is in good form, and we arrive with a lot of fatigue.

“That’s the way it is though, we’ve not done much work in training today because we put so much into that game, but the win in the derby allows us to work more calmly.

“We played really well against Atalanta, we didn’t make very many mistakes. We made mistakes in the derby, and at times we were unlucky.

“What I liked was the spirit, we ran for 120 minutes and did some interesting things in terms of tactics and mentality.

“Honestly we’re very tired and have had very little time to prepare for this one, I hope I won’t see the fatigue I saw today.

“We’re facing a team which is in good health and we have to be a real team, because otherwise it will be hard.”

One of the areas in which the Diavolo have struggled is attack…

“The numbers tell you that, we’ve had 317 shots and scored 23 goals. We can definitely do better, but two or three times [Nikola] Kalinic has had shots blocked by the opposition.

“It’s a number we have to improve, but the important thing is to arrive at the point where we can finish.

“I think we’ve been more direct since I came in. We like to play with the ball, but when we get to the last 20-30 metres we try to find our striker or a winger.

“Suso has been very good, then Patrick [Cutrone] has his characteristics. Kalinic makes very good runs, sometimes the ball gets to him and other times it doesn't.

“Gigio Donnarumma? He trained today, I think he’ll play.”
