Gennaro Gattuso is happy with Pippo Inzaghi’s appointment as Milan Coach but would one day love the job himself.

The former Rossoneri midfielder has recently been appointed as Greek side OFI Crete’s new boss, having also had spells in charge of Sion and Palermo.

In an interview with Corriere Dello Sport, the 36-year-old declared his happiness for former teammate Inzaghi but did not deny he wants to return to San Siro at some stage.

“Inzaghi will ensure Milan’s history is respected,” Gattuso said. “He will make it understood that technical and physical qualities are not enough and that behaviour matters too.

“I don’t deny that I am happy for Inzaghi, he has always shown his attachment to the Milan shirt.

“Me on the Rossonero bench? I would be a hypocrite if I denied that I would like to return to Milan one day.”

Gattuso also believes Milan should do their utmost to retain Ricky Kaka, who is still yet to decide whether he is remaining at San Siro.

“They need to start again with Kaka, he will be an important resource for Pippo.”
