"We didn’t make the decision. I just said that in that moment it was better to go and play the game because it is a fact that Juventus are trying to do something new, it is true that we lacked important players like Zielinski and Elmas,” Gattuso told Sky Sport.
“I said that already, we didn’t decide. We were on the bus until five to seven and then we were told not to leave.
“I hope to play it again and that decisions will be reviewed.
Reports in Italy suggest Napoli are close to reaching an agreement to extend the coach’s stay at the San Paolo although Aurelio De Laurentiis should avoid including a €7m clause in Gattuso’s new deal.
"I am happy to work here, I am happy to deal with the people who run the club, There’s only a problem: I don’t really believe in contracts the way I am.
“One day I may see three or four things [that I don’t like] and go home. You know the President, he wants to protect himself with clauses but I am not the one who have to take it off.
“The desire is to stay. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, I want to be free and I want to work peacefully. If the President tells me to sign a six-month contract I sign it immediately but I must feel free.”
