Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso has reacted to his dismissal as Palermo boss just six games into the new season.

“I’m disappointed that despite the hard work and commitment of my squad and myself as Coach of Palermo, we did not get the desired results,” the 35-year-old briefly told ANSA.

Rookie boss Gattuso, who ended his playing career in the summer for the Rosanero bench, collected seven points from the 18 on offer.

The defeat at Bari on Tuesday saw volcanic President Maurizio Zamparini replace the World Cup winner with Beppe Iachini.

Gattuso will now concentrate on obtaining his next coaching badge at Coverciano, while travelling around Italy taking in training sessions of other Coaches.
