Gennaro Gattuso’s agent has warned it would be “very difficult” for him to join Glasgow Rangers due to their transfer embargo.

The ex-Milan midfielder announced during a farewell press conference that it was his dream to wear the Rangers jersey again, having played at Ibrox early in his career.

“There are many Italian and foreign clubs interested in Ringhio,” agent Andrea D’Amico told Calciomercato.it.

“The road that takes him to Rangers is very difficult, because the Scottish club cannot sign new players older than 18 for a year.

“In any case, Gattuso is a champion and will certainly find a club.”

Rangers had their appeal against the 12-month transfer embargo rejected this week by the Scottish Football Association.

“If I were in Milan’s shoes, I’d replace Gattuso with Marco Rigoni, who has done so well for Novara. He combines quantity with quality, even if he made his Serie A debut at the age of 31.

“Marco really deserves Milan and is a Rossoneri fan. He’s a fantastic player and Adriano Galliani likes him a lot.”
