Gennaro Gattuso admits that he has concerns for Italy in Thursday’s Euro 2012 semi-final against Germany.

“I’m a bit worried this time, even if I still hope that Italy can do it again,” the new FC Sion midfielder told the Corriere della Sera. “However, I don’t trust the Germans.

“Mesut Ozil has disappointed for Real Madrid, but he is devastating in the national side. Lukas Podolski limps around in the championship then, I don’t know how, he becomes a champion for his country.”

Germany have never beaten Italy at a major tournament and Gattuso was part of the Azzurri side who defeated them 2-0 in the semi-finals of World Cup 2006.

“How do you beat Germany? They need to find a way to beat us seeing as they have never managed it before,” smiled the former Milan idol.

Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli is set to start in tonight’s game and Gattuso is hoping to see a goal celebration from the striker.

“He’s a crazy talent,” the 34-year-old stated. “But he drives me mad when he scores and he doesn’t celebrate…”
