Gennaro Gattuso could end up doing his old club Milan a favour, as it’s reported his first request as coach of Valencia is Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is currently on loan from Chelsea.

Jose Bordalas was fired today and Gattuso has already signed a two-year contract in a meeting with Valencia owner Peter Lim.

According to the initial reports, the first name on the wish-list is Bakayoko yet again, as Gattuso already worked with the midfielder at Milan and Napoli.

In both instances, he was on loan from Chelsea, but did not do enough to warrant a permanent move.

Now the 27-year-old is in the same situation once more, as he joined Milan in August 2021 on a two-year loan with obligation to buy for €17m if he makes at least 15 appearances of 45 minutes each in the 2022-23 season.

Naturally, the Rossoneri don’t want to keep Bakayoko and are trying to negotiate an exit with Chelsea.

Gattuso could therefore come to their rescue here and take the midfielder off their hands for the same deal.

Bakayoko made 18 competitive appearances for Milan this season, starting only five of those.
