Juventus could be forced to start Federico Gatti in defence and make changes in midfield too against Sampdoria, as injuries are piling up already.

It kicks off on Monday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa.

The Bianconeri medical centre is already packed, as Angel Di Maria is out for at least two to three weeks with a muscular strain, joining Paul Pogba, Federico Chiesa and Kaio Jorge in the stands.

Wojciech Szczesny is also not fully fit, while Leonardo Bonucci has picked up a muscular problem in training.

It’s reported the Italy international won’t be ready to start, so Max Allegri is leaning towards new signing Gatti to fill in rather than Daniele Rugani.

The 24-year-old has never played in Serie A, as he was signed from Frosinone and only had one season in Serie B.

Nonetheless, Gatti still earned his first senior Italy cap in the Nations League draw with England in June.

Adrien Rabiot and Moise Kean are available again after their bans, although both could still be sold this summer.

It’s going to be a choice between Denis Zakaria, Rabiot and Fabio Miretti in the middle of the park.

4 thought on “Gatti ready to replace Bonucci in Juventus defence”
  1. Gatti is clearly a future starter. Please freeze out of the team Rabiot. Arthur, at least, is co-operative and wants to leave. But Rabiot and his mama are a desaster. I think Zakaria deserves a second chance. He arrived recently. As to Kean – he used up more chances than was allowed to. Get a quality player instead of him
