The Sardinians flew in Uruguay international Gaston Pereiro this week for his medical and he penned the contract until June 2024.

The forward joined PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2015, winning two Eredivisie titles and as many Supercups, scoring 44 goals in 154 competitive games.

“Pereiro is a particularly flexible offensive player; he can play both as a winger, preferably starting from the right to move to the centre of the field and shoot on goal with his left foot, but also as a midfielder, where he can take advantage of his vision and pace, as well as the ability to move among the lines, leaving the defenders no reference points,” read a club statement.

“Powerful physique (1.88 m tall and 80 kilos), good dribbling, fast and ready to get into the box. A player of great quality, young but at the same time already an expert also internationally, who arrives to elevate the Rossoblù squad.”

Meanwhile, Cagliari enacted an exchange of strikers with SPAL, sending Cerri to the Stadio Mazza and bringing Paloschi the other way.
