Linked with Juventus, Napoli and Roma, now multiple sources report that Gian Piero Gasperini will stay with Atalanta for an eighth consecutive season.

The coach had raised the doubts over his own future several times in interviews over the last few weeks, warning he needed to make sure he was on the same page as the club hierarchy and the fans.

He felt frustrated that people treated Europa League qualification as the bare minimum for a side that operates on a very limited budget.

However, Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia, Tuttomercatoweb and more all confirm that today’s meeting with the Percassi family was a positive one.

Gasperini and Atalanta have therefore decided to continue together for the eighth consecutive season, which is practically unheard of in Italian football.

The 65-year-old took the job in the summer of 2016 and has overseen 331 competitive games for the club.

In his seven completed campaigns, Gasperini secured European qualification in six of them.
