“This team are at the top of our championship.”
Gasperini was reminded that Atalanta’s only Coppa Italia success came against a Turin-based side but the coach stressed there are ‘many important’ games before the showdown with Juventus.
“We will think about the Final later,” he said. “For us it’s already a great success.
“Then we will play against an extraordinary side like Jvuentus, who are difficult to face.
“Now we have many important games, we will host Real Madrid. That will be an event for Bergamo.”
The coach said La Dea ‘never lost confidence’ and underlined the tight schedule as the only problem.
“We have never lost confidence, we are achieving results with great continuity,” he continued. “Sunday at Cagliari will be the 13th game in 40 days, it’s normal to have ups and downs.
“We have played Cagliari, Lazio, Napoli twice, but we have never given up, even in the Championship. But there are many commitments.
“Expecting more from Atalanta seems difficult to me, even if there is too much talk about us. Let’s try to play our best."
