“We dive back into the Champions League with great enthusiasm, as we want to begin a particularly prestigious group,” said the coach in his press conference and on Sky Sport Italia.
“We’re coming off a heavy defeat to Napoli, but this is an opportunity to make up for that. This is a team that reacts to difficult moments, but when you have a packed fixture list, there can be some setbacks.
“We’re still trying to find our physical form and just as we try to move on immediately from wins, we must try to move on immediately from defeat too.”
This is the second consecutive season for Atalanta in the Champions League, having reached the quarter-finals last term against PSG.
“Our sensations do not change in the Champions League, we still face top level fixtures, with all due respect for Serie A. We’re up against a Midtjylland team who are having their all-time debut in this competition, so they’ll be feeling the enthusiasm we had last year.”
