Genoa full-back Luca Antonini says Coach Gian Piero Gasperini deserves great credit for the club’s current league position.

The 57-year-old tactician returned to the Luigi Ferraris last September and has since guided the Rossoblu to mid-table safety.

“The credit goes to Gasperini,” Antonini told Telenord.

“He has brought enthusiasm to the team and revived the atmosphere in the dressing room.

“We have worked our way back up the table after a difficult start to the season.

“We have picked up the point needed to get away from the relegation zone and now we are hoping to guarantee safety mathematically.

“I will always be grateful to this club for giving me the chance to relaunch my career.

“I have been involved with a fantastic group here, they made me feel important from the first day I was here.”
