Atalanta President Antonio Percassi compares Gian Piero Gasperini to Arsene Wenger but hopes he can have “even more than those 22 years”.

“Let’s go ahead with Mr Gasperini,” Percassi told Bergamo TV.
“Like Wenger at Arsenal? Even more than those 22 years. I can’t say other clubs haven’t come forward for him in the past, but we get better day-by-day and hopefully we can prolong the contract.

“We’ve repeated an extraordinary path, we’re happy and we played great football thanks to a Coach who applied his methods.
“Our 5-1 win over Everton in England was a shock for all of Italian football. The preliminaries won’t be a problem, we’ll use them as preparation, even if the results will be crucial.
“The first goal is to stay up, the second is to balance the books. Having said that, we believe we can build a more competitive and stronger Atalanta.
“[Josip] Ilicic won’t leave, we’ll have to see on [Bryan] Cristante.”
