Atalanta Coach Gian Piero Gasperini is “so very proud” to be named an honorary citizen of Bergamo.

The tactician, who is from the Turin area, became a club legend when taking Atalanta to third place in Serie A and their first ever Champions League qualification.

He’ll be rewarded with the title of honorary citizen of Bergamo, as confirmed by the local council today.

He’ll be rewarded with the title of honorary citizen of Bergamo, as confirmed by the local council today.

“It’s a huge honour and I am so very proud. Receiving this recognition is further confirmation of the bond that has been formed with the city of Bergamo, its people and the Atalanta fans,” Gasperini told the official club website.

“I think it is something that goes beyond sport and sporting results. It is such an important gift and from today I have even more responsibility.”
