Gian Piero Gasperini saw “a good performance from an hour, apart from that five-minute wobble” as Atalanta lost 2-1 to Swansea City.

Josip Ilicic had opened the scoring and they dominated the first half at the Liberty Stadium, but conceded twice in three minutes.

“It’s a good level to be playing at, they have already had several pre-season games and are at a more advanced stage of preparation,” the Coach told their official site.

“It was a good performance for an hour, apart from that five-minute wobble at the back, when we struggled to get settled with the fresh legs coming off the bench and many changes.

“We conceded those two goals in quick succession, but overall it was a good game and we just lost focus for that period.

“It’s always disappointing to lose, but it’s better to play a friendly rather than just have a series of training sessions. That’s the point of them.

“We just finished two tough weeks of training, these games will help us achieve match fitness and we can learn some useful things from them.”

Atalanta’s next pre-season match will be at Norwich City on Tuesday evening.
