Gian Piero Gasperini said he didn't expect a 'clear-cut' Milan win over Juventus and claimed Atalanta are only focused on Benevento.

La Dea picked up a 5-2 win over Parma at the Ennio Tardini and strengthened their position in the top four with three games remaining, as Juventus now sit three points behind at fifth.

“Yes, I’m satisfied after the match against Parma,” Gasperini told the club’s official channel. “The team are in good condition; they are motivated ahead of the final sprint.

“Only [Rafael] Toloi is missing, but he could join the group as early as Thursday. We are ready.”

The Orobici coach admitted he didn’t expect such a convincing win from Milan at the Allianz Stadium last time.

“Not so clear-cut, but it was among the possible results,” Gasperini continued. “When the result is unlocked, the matches in this period take unexpected and strange turns.

“In that match, Milan made a great coup.”

Benevento arrive at the Gewiss Stadium with a lot to play for, as they currently sit three points behind safety in Serie A.

“Sunday’s results are starting to be almost definitive, both in the upper and lower parts of the standings,” he said.

“There may already be verdicts, we knew it could be a decisive week for everyone.”

Six more points should be enough to secure a place in the Champions League for La Dea.

“The math says this, it’s clear that our focus is on tomorrow’s game against Benevento,” Gasperini said. “It can put us in an advantageous situation.

“They are all available, we must play these games with 16 players, as happened in Parma.

“We know them well, Benevento comes from a moment of great controversy, we have to think about our situation and our game.

“Serie A games are never simple, they are always to be played, but we also have the means to win.”
