Gian Piero Gasperini explained why he chose to change his tactics to face Verona today.

The coach used a 4-2-3-1 formation against the Gialloblu today with La Dea, who snatched a 2-0 win at the Stadio Bentegodi.

“It’s a system we’ve already used this season, but never from the beginning,” Gasperini told DAZN.

“We are accustomed to using this system, especially against specific teams. I am satisfied with how we approached the game.

“Maehle was the only winger available, but we had many attacking midfielders. I needed to try Miranchuk, and he played a great game.

“Zapata is decisive for us, even when he is not 100 per cent fit. You could tell today he had something more. He created trouble for Verona, and he finally scored, which is always good for a striker.

“There are many clubs involved in the race for the Champions League," Gasperini continued.

"We are the underdogs, but we’ll battle till the end. Ten games are many. I hope there will be no problems during the international break and players will be fit when they return."
