Gian Piero Gasperini told Atalanta to improve their finishing after a 2-1 defeat to Bologna. “We’ve dropped so many points this season.”

La Dea were inevitably feeling distracted and exhausted after their midweek Champions League exploits in Ukraine, as a 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk put them into the Round of 16.

Papu Gomez, Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata were all out of action, leaving few options for Gasp.

“We still created the chances and wasted far too many of them, especially in the first half,” the coach told DAZN.

“It’s a pity, we contributed to this defeat, as well as giving Bologna credit. There was certainly a lack of concentration on their goals.

“When this situation keeps repeating itself, it means something is wrong. We have dropped so many points this season by not converting our chances and in the long run that is damaging. We should not have lost today.

“It is disappointing and we need to work on that, because the points dropped are starting to really pile up now. Atalanta are still playing well, but we need to keep growing.”
