For the first time in seven years, Gian Piero Gasperini’s future with Atalanta is now in serious doubt and the Italian tactician may leave Bergamo in the summer.

The 65-year-old coach has exceeded expectations with la Dea, taking them to the Champions League for the first time in their history and the Coppa Italia final, which they lost to Lazio in 2019.

Atalanta’s 3-2 loss to Inter ruled them out of the Champions League race in the penultimate game of the season, and Gasperini was clearly disappointed with the result. When asked about his future, he left the door open, saying: “It may be that the time has come…. But it’s something we’ll evaluate together, with the usual affection.”

As highlighted by Tuttosport via TMW, Gasperini’s comments may be a sign that he’s planning to leave Atalanta in the summer, especially considering that they came soon after a meeting between club president Antonio Percassi and majority shareholder Stephen Pagliuca in the United States.

La Dea have started to look around for possible replacements for the 65-year-old Italian coach and believe that Gerardo Seoane may be the right option. The 44-year-old, who was most recently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, won three Swiss titles with Young Boys from 2018 to 2021.
