Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini has admitted his surprise after the Grifone claimed their third straight win at the weekend.
The Marassi side beat Verona to seventh in the table, and the Coach has conceded that he was shocked to find such a ‘compact’ group when he took over from Fabio Liverani.
“It was a surprise to me,” he told the club’s official website. “But 13 points from six games is a nice amount.
“I honestly did not expect to come here and find such a compact group – they have given everything.
“The credit has to go to the players.
“We have to look forward now and learn from what we’ve done. This is an opportunity for us.
“We have to take advantage of the international break, and prepare to give more on the pitch.”
