Gian Piero Gasperini fully admits Atalanta ‘did not deserve’ to beat Torino 2-1 in stoppages. ‘We really need a better performance.’

Torino 1-2 Atalanta: Piccoli snatches last-gasp victory

Luis Muriel had given them the early lead with a ferocious strike, but after resting on their laurels for most of the game, they conceded the equaliser from Andrea Belotti’s deflected effort.

Having risked going behind, La Dea snatched the winner with Roberto Piccoli at the 93rd minute.

“We did not deserve to win that game,” confessed Gasperini to DAZN.

“It is very satisfying to win it at the death, but we need to get some players back in shape and really need a better performance in future.

“We were really lucky tonight, it was a difficult match. Our whole performance was below par, Torino were more reactive on the second ball every time.

“Even on a physical level, we didn’t hold out well enough against them, we were shoved off the ball too easily.

“Muriel was struggling by half-time and he’ll have to be evaluated over the next few days.”
