Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini is now fourth on the list of Serie A coaches by their overall points tallies in the three-point era, and now only has three prestigious coaches left to catch: Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, Italy CT Luciano Spalletti and six-time league winner Massimiliano Allegri.

Gasperini on 900 points: How he compares to Ancelotti, Spalletti and Allegri

Gasperini has become only the fourth coach in the three-point era to reach a tally of 900 points following Saturday’s 5-1 demolition of Genoa in Serie A. He achieved that feat with an average of 1.58 points per game from 568 league outings.

Ancelotti is third on the list with 950 points won in Serie A from his spells with Parma, Juventus, Milan and Napoli. He reached that tally in 488 games with an average of 1.95 points per game.

Gasperini could feasibly catch Ancelotti by the end of the 2024-25 campaign. To do so, he would need another 50 points from the remaining 31 league matches of the season, which would require an average of 1.61 points per game, just above the rate that he has averaged across his career to date.

Italy national team head coach Luciano Spalletti has 996 points in the Serie A three-point era from a total of 559 matches with seven different top-flight clubs including Napoli, Roma, Inter and Udinese

Allegri, with a tally of 1,012 points from 506 points for an average of exactly two points per game across his Serie A career, is still the most successful Serie A coach in the three-point era.
