Gary Neville has found himself in hot water on social media after taking a jab at Inter’s financial situation.

The former Manchester United full back took to Twitter to joke about the Nerazzurri’s well-known economic difficulties, responding to an initial tweet from former government advisor Dominic Cummings asking for ‘the best accounts to follow on Italian bonds / bank problems’.

Neville quote-tweeted Cummings’ question and responded by tagging Inter, something which immediately angered the Nerazzurri supporters, who were quick to point out the financial issues of Salford City, the club co-owned by the former player. Rival fans found the humour and seemed to delight in the joke.

Last week, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post reported that Inter president Steven Zhang had lost a court case against creditors and was therefore liable for around €250m. The club have suffered from serious economic issues following the onset of the COVID pandemic in 2020 and many fans are waiting for Suning to sell the team.

  1. It would have been best to just ignore him but in typical Inter style and whataboutism, they attack a hopeless club. Sad.

  2. Truth was spoken, cant hide behind it inter fans – how’s the next top young CB going – erm erm ACERBI 🙂 🙂

  3. Neville is also best placed to comment on why managers fail…!

Funny how he was OK taking wages from the glazers despite fan protests. But once he retired, he has become the spokesperson for anything that is anti glazers. Parasite.

  4. FYI the champions of Italy can’t even afford guys they have been working on for 6 months and some random Belgium kid that Leeds United are interested in

  5. Why does D E B T have your post not show up? Seriously need to get at those filters and do it properly FI.

  6. His club Man U have a lot of money but they are a joke, in the shadows of their other EPL rivals. CR wants to leave them as they are hopeless. I think that is something he should be concerned with more than Inter, who just won 2 trophies a few months ago and will still compete for trophies next season.
