Speculation is growing as to the future of Sampdoria, as President and owner Edoardo Garrone has called a surprise Press conference.
Garrone’s father Riccardo bought majority shares in the Marassi side back in 2002 and held presidency until his death in February 2013, after which Edoardo replaced him.
Edoardo has prompted speculation over his intentions in the role today having called a surprise Press conference for early this afternoon.
Genoa-based publication Il Secolo XIX lead with rumours that Garrone will confirm that he has agreed to sell the club to a Rome-based entrepreneur.
It is alleged that a board meeting at club headquarters was called by the Garrone family, in which all club directors were called to, whilst Garrone has since been in a series of meetings with Vice-President Stefano Remondini, CEO Ariedo Braida and sporting director Carlo Osti.
Further speculation is that the buyer may be Massimo Ferrero, owner of the Ferrero Cinemas Group.
