Sampdoria President Riccardo Garrone has confirmed that as far as he is concerned Antonio Cassano's time at the club is over.

The FIGC started arbitration proceedings yesterday acting on Sampdoria's request to rescind the player's contract for 'insubordination'.

Cassano has been frozen out of Sampdoria's team ever since he behaved disrespectfully towards Garrone at the end of last month.

Speaking at an awards ceremony, Garrone said: "I hope that he finds a solution that is adequate to his talent. If the rescission happens, it's his fault.

"I hope that sooner of later the media interest in this event decreases. It can also create problems for him. Cassano is an extraordinary player, who no longer had 'Cassanate', but this was too big.

"He has a sensibility, which is a little primitive. He shouldn't forget that until the age of 14 he was part of a herd. Then he became rich through football and it was a shock."

Reflecting on the slanging match, which happened at the club's training ground, Garrone revealed: "If he had said those things face-to-face, I would have given him four punches and it would have ended there."

When asked about reported interest from Real Madrid, he said: "If the Real Madrid President has the same moral values as Cassano, he can have him back."
