Walter Gargano’s agent says the midfielder wants to renew his Napoli contract, despite interest from Atletico Madrid.
The Uruguayan midfielder spent two years away from San Paolo, with loan spells at Inter and Parma, but has returned to the Partenopei fold this season, making 11 Serie A appearances.
“We’re aware that a return to Walter [Mazzarri]’s Napoli wouldn’t have been easy,” Pablo Boselli told Radio CRC.

“We’re aware that a return to Walter [Mazzarri]’s Napoli wouldn’t have been easy,” Pablo Boselli told Radio CRC.
“However, [Rafael] Benitez liked him. Naples is his home, and Gargano wants to return the love that the city has shown him.
“For a club that wants to do well, the Supercoppa [win over Juventus] was a major success. As for the future he wants to stay at Napoli and we’re negotiating a renewal.
“He wants to stay at San Paolo, I refute transfer rumours. Some clubs have looked at him, especially Internacional and Atletico Madrid, but Walter wants to stay at Napoli.”
