Douglas Maicon is expected to meet with Rudi Garcia today, with the Roma Coach reportedly ready to reaffirm his faith in the defender.
The 33-year-old’s international career is speculated as most likely over following his dismissal from the Brazil training camp for ‘an internal problem’.
Rumours are continuing on what exactly prompted the player’s premature exit from the training camp, with one line of reports suggesting he was late returning to the squad one evening and that he argued with Coach Dunga and co-ordinator Gilmar Rinaldi.
Il Messaggero give credence to this and also report that the player is expected back in the Italian capital on Tuesday and could be set for an immediate meeting with Rudi Garcia.
The Rome daily reports that the Coach is keen to talk with Maicon and make clear that he will continue to back him, regardless of this latest episode or the player’s contract situation at the Olimpico.
It is understood that Giallorosso officials are only willing to enter into negotiations to extend his current deal once they have seen his performance levels on the field.
