The Giallorossi Coach has declared that his side will go on to lift the Scudetto at the end of the season, believing that the Lupi are stronger than Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus.

Former Bianconeri Coach Giovanni Trapattoni has praised the former Lille man for his work at Roma, but says promising the title was a mistake.

“Against CSKA [Moscow], Roma have paid for a piece of bad luck,” Trapattoni explained to Tele Radio Stereo.

“They played a very good game, they demonstrated character and personality.

“This is down to an intelligent Coach in Garcia, who has had a very positive impact in a difficult environment.

“Roma is a hot, passionate environment, but he hasn’t neglected anything either in terms of communication or in a tactical sense.

“Garcia arrived at Roma with a wealth of international experience, he’s doing very well.

“In football sometimes there are bad moments [such as CSKA’s last minute equaliser] which are necessary to give the team more focus.

“I’d only criticise him for one sentence since he’s come across the alps: I’d never have said ‘We will win the Scudetto’.

“I don’t know if he did it to encourage the fans or the team, but in Italy such statements are risky.

“Juventus are not unreachable, Roma – but also Napoli – must remember that Allegri’s team are fighting on a lot of fronts.

“They’re a very strong team, but despite this great run they’ve been on they can be pressurised.

“The title race is open.”
