Rudi Garcia tried his best to ignore the Juventus defeat, insisting “the important thing is Roma go on their journey.”
The Giallorossi beat Cesena 2-0, catching Juve on top of the table after their last-gasp 1-0 loss at Genoa.
“It was important for us to win, that was all that counted,” Garcia told Sky Sport Italia.
“Juve’s result is of no interest. I am concentrated on my team and the important thing is Roma go on their journey.
“We did well to score early on, which is what you need against teams that clam up. We were a little below par in the first half and lacked patience, but then we held possession well.
“I also noted some mistakes when we went one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Destro is our only real centre-forward in the penalty area with Borriello injured, but he also works well for the team.”
There was bad news for Davide Astori, who pulled up with a suspected thigh strain.
“We will perform tests tomorrow. We’ve lost Astori and that is a shame. I started Skorupski because he needed some playing time and we didn’t want to rush De Sanctis back from injury, so he had time to train and treat the shoulder ahead of the Napoli game.”
