Rudi Garcia insists Roma want to do well in the Europa League – but admits Serie A is his priority.

The Giallorossi were eliminated from this year’s Champions League after a home defeat to Manchester City, and will compete in the Europa League, but Garcia says the Scudetto race is his main focus.

“We’re second in the table, four points off the top and we’ll do everything to close the cap to one,” the former Lille Coach said in his Press conference ahead of the visit of Milan.

“Our ambition hasn’t changed.

“We have three competitions to compete in, the most important is the League, because it’s the shortest route back into the Champions League.

“We still want to see great teams visiting the Olimpico in the future, but maybe not so many big teams in the same group!

“We have to get out of the fourth seeding pot, and to do that you have to get results in Europe, which means the Europa League for us now.”

The Giallorossi have been criticised by Pavel Nedved, the Juventus director saying the Lupi 'talk too much', but Garcia was in no mood to be drawn on those comments today.

“I haven’t heard what was said.

“I don’t know whether it was right to say it or not, but I don’t care. I only talk about what happens on the pitch, and we’re playing Milan.

“I want my players to be focused, the rest doesn’t interest me.

“We have to go out on the field with the right attitude and play our game.”
