Coach Rudi Garcia warns that Roma’s opponents BATE Borisov “are used to playing in the Champions League”.
The Giallorossi will face the Belarussian side in their second Group Stage match tomorrow, and the tactician is not expecting an easy match.
“Bate are a team used to playing in the Champions League,” Garcia explained in his pre-match Press conference.
“They have the [Belarussian] title under control and they’re focused on the Champions League. They have a quality stadium, and there will be a good atmosphere with everyone supporting the local team.
“However, nothing changes for us, because even with players out we have our ambitions. Every game must be played at the maximum.
“Nothing has changed since what I said after Barcelona. The next three games will be crucial, and the clash with Bayer.
“Every time you win you take a step forward, when you lose it’s a step back. The point we took against Barcelona should give us confidence, now we’re playing a team who are two-thirds of the way to winning their League.”
Tomorrow will be Garcia’s 100th game on the Roma bench, but the former Lille Coach insists he’s not thinking about that.
“I’m not someone who concentrates on the past or the future, but the present. I’m interested in things that are happening right now.
“I’m enthusiastic, and proud to lead this team. The squad has changed from the previous two years, but it’s always interesting to go out onto the pitch and play to win and do well.
“I’m appealing to Radja [Nainggolan, alongside him in the conference], I want a gift for my 100th!”
