The Giallorossi have been put in the same group as Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Qarabag.
“The important thing is to be there and we are where we belong,” Gandini told Mediaset Premium.
“We have to face six difficult games, it is certainly a very tough task, because – apart from the long journey to Azerbaijan – we’re up against two strong sides that we know well.
“It is an important time for the club and team. We have a responsibility to do well both in Serie A and the Champions League, where we’ll face some European giants with two Coaches known for their motivational skills.
“The journey to Azerbaijan will also be uncomfortable. We’ll give it our best and see where we are in December. Experience will count for a lot and the fixture list is also going to have an effect.”
Gandini was also asked about Roma’s advanced negotiations with Sampdoria for Schick, amid rumours the player would prefer Inter.
“All our cards are on the table. Everyone knows what the situation is. It takes three to complete a transfer.”
