Week 32 served up a thrilling Derby della Madonnina, in Milan’s first game under their Chinese ownership.

Rossoneri Sport Investment finally completed their long-running takeover ahead of the match, which was moved to 11.30 UK time for audiences in the Far East.

The first meeting in November had been an exciting affair, with Ivan Perisic grabbing a last-minute equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw.

This one started in similar fashion, with Samir Handanovic saving from Gerard Deulofeu before Carlos Bacca fired over the bar.

Deulofeu then hit the post, as the Diavolo started the match firmly on the front foot.

However, the Beneamata took the lead against the run of play, with Antonio Candreva capitalising on a lapse in concentration from Mattia De Sciglio to fire past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

From being under the cosh for the first half hour, Stefano Pioli’s men made it 2-0 before the break after a stunning move.

Mauro Icardi chested the ball wide to Perisic, and the winger surged down the flank before returning it to the Inter captain for a tap-in.

The second half was a mirror image of the first, with Perisic squandering two good chances which could have put the game to bed.

Milan Coach Vincenzo Montella knew he had to gamble, sending on Lucas Ocampos, Manuel Locatelli and Gianluca Lapadula.

It paid off after 83 minutes, though it wasn’t one of the myriad attacking options who got the goal.

Suso sent a cross curling into the far post, and the unlikely figure of Alessio Romagnoli met the ball on the volley to give his side hope.

Inter desperately tried to run the clock down, as their city rivals laid siege to Samir Handanovic’s goal.

It was to prove their undoing though, as a corner was flicked on in the 97th-minute for Cristian Zapata to turn it home at the back post, goal-line technology confirming that the ball had crossed the line.
