Nice coach Christophe Galtier praised Milan forward Olivier Giroud’s strength in the air after the France international scored in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Giroud scored with his first touch in a Rossoneri shirt, nodding home a free kick from Samu Castillejo.
Galtier, who took over Nice ahead of 2021-22, admitted it’s hard to defend against the former Chelsea and Arsenal player.
“We faced an opponent of great quality, even if they were not at their best, a team that finished second in the League,” he told Milan TV.
“We improved in intensity and pace compared to the previous friendlies. There was a desire and enthusiasm.
“I’m sorry for the goal, because it’s the third one we concede in this pre-season period, but it’s not easy to contain a great player like Olivier Giroud, who is a formidable header.
“There are some satisfying points, but also several things to improve. It was important to play at home with our fans and especially against a great team.
“It was an interesting game, obviously far from perfect, but since there’s progress from last time.”
