Christophe Galtier reflected on Paris Saint-Germain’s attempts to sign Inter defender Milan Skriniar in the summer.
The 27-year-old Slovakian centre back was one of the hottest topics in the summer transfer window, with the Ligue 1 giants seemingly desperate to secure his signature. Despite their interest, Inter held form on their €70m+ valuation, refusing lower offers as they worked to keep their man. This worked but now his contract expiry is rapidly drawing closer.
Speaking via Calciomercato.com, Galtier commented on PSG’s summer transfer market targets and their work to bring Skriniar to Paris.
“We wanted a new central defender and a striker with certain characteristics, our president did everything he could to bring them to Paris.”
PSG submitted an offer worth around €50m to Inter during the summer for Skriniar but this was declined as the Nerazzurri wanted a higher fee, something the Parisians were unwilling to pay.
The Milanese club are now hoping to tie down the 27-year-old to a new contract as his current deal expires next June.
