Adriano Galliani has confirmed that he did try to engineer a reunion with former Milan star Kaka at Monza.

It was reported back in October that Monza were hoping to get Kaka out of retirement for a season in Serie C, but Galliani admitted the Brazilian did not want to leave his children.

“I handle the club with the same enthusiasm I had at Milan,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We completed 30 deals in January: 16 arrivals and 14 departures. I met the directors and Presidents at my home like I did before.

“When I called Napoli’s [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli to take [Armando] Anastasio, Ancelotti passed me.

“We cracked some jokes. I told him that once, we’d talked about Pirlo and Kaka…

“Kaka told me ‘no’. I asked him to come to Monza, but he didn’t want to leave Sao Paulo and his kids.

“I’ve had several offers from other clubs, but I’ve always refused them. I couldn’t betray Milan. I was on loan for 31 years. Now I’m back home.”

The Monza native was appointed the club’s CEO after ex-Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi completed his takeover last year.

The northern minnows are coached by another former Rossonero Cristian Brocchi and are currently on track for the Serie C playoffs.
