Adriano Galliani insists Monza’s goal against Milan should have stood: ‘It’s the second goal disallowed in a few days.’

Monza were furious on Saturday when their striker Dany Mota’s goal was disallowed after seven minutes in a Serie A game against Milan.

The Brianzoli director Galliani, a former CEO for the Rossoneri, complained about the referee’s decision in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s the second legitimate goal that was disallowed in a few days,” he said.

“Who knows what would have happened if a big club had two consecutive goals disallowed? People would have talked about it for days. But it was Monza, so everyone will forget it.”

Monza had already complained on Wednesday when they had another goal disallowed in a 1-0 loss against Atalanta in a mid-week league fixture.

“I am proud of Monza’s performances against Milan and Atalanta,” added Galliani.

“We were on the same level as Milan and Atalanta, but unfortunately, there were referee errors.”

Sunday’s Italian sports papers agreed with Monza that Dany Mota’s goal should have stood.

It was disallowed for a Warren Bondo push on Theo Hernandez in the build-up, but Italian papers noted that the intensity of the challenge did not justify the referee’s whistle.

Milan’s win in Monza was their first away victory this season.

Their next match is against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions League Round 4.

Milan have three points in three Champions League games and have collected 17 points in 10 Serie A matches.
