Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said he will “keep this trophy in my heart more than any other” after beating Juventus for the Supercoppa.

The final ended 1-1 in Doha after 90 minutes and had to be decided on a penalty shoot-out, as 17-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma parried from Paulo Dybala and Mario Pasalic converted the winner.

“There is joy, emotion, tears, everything,” Galliani told Milan TV.

“We won silverware again five years after the Supercoppa against Inter. This is the 29th trophy of the Silvio Berlusconi era, plus 16 runner-up spots.

“I was moved when Pasalic scored the goal. I am so happy for this kid, as he seemed like a mystery when he arrived, but instead he went on the spot and took home the trophy.”

Jack Bonaventura’s header cancelled out a Giorgio Chiellini opener in the first half.

“We started out a little timid, but then did well. In the second half especially we were on top. In 2016 we faced Juventus four times and always played them on level terms, now we’re at two wins each.”

This could well be the final trophy in Berlusconi’s 30-year tenure, as the sale to Chinese investors is set to go through in March.

“It’s always wonderful to win, whether as favourites or underdogs. President Berlusconi was very happy and he deserves it for all the economic, moral and other efforts he has put in over the years.

“I will keep this trophy in my heart more than any other, but I’ll tell you why another time.”
